Description
The Center for Journalism Ethics (CJE) is seeking to fill up to two fellowship positions for spring semester 2026 with possible extension to fall. Among other duties, fellows will create original content for the center’s webpage. Open to graduate and undergraduate students.
Responsibilities and duties. The CJE fellows will assist with a variety of activities, including:
· Contributing to the center’s website by conducting research, interviewing sources and producing journalistic content
· Planning and assisting with Center events
· Attending biweekly team meetings and helping to promote the Center’s work on campus and across the country
Benefits to fellows. Becoming a fellow will provide opportunities for professional and academic development. These benefits include:
· Mentoring and guidance from the Center director, board members, affiliated faculty and administrator
· Connecting with media professionals on ethics questions and events
· Meaningfully engaging with critical questions of media ethics
Requirements: Applicants must be currently enrolled UW-Madison undergraduate or graduate students, but do not have to be students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Fellows will receive a $500 scholarship per semester. Hours are flexible and highly variable, anywhere from 0-10 hours a week.
Fellows will meet biweekly with the CJE administrator in Vilas Hall and are expected to respond in a timely fashion to communication from center staff. Each fellow will help determine individual responsibilities that fit with individual strengths and will be supervised by the CJE administrator.
To apply, submit the following to Krista Eastman, administrator, at krista.eastman@wisc.edu.
