Description
The Helsinki Institute of Urban and Regional Studies (known as Urbaria) is a network of approximately 200 urban studies scholars from the University of Helsinki, and the leading urban studies institute in Finland. Their expertise extends from the urban environment to urban communities and built environment planning. The Director of Urbaria, Mari Vaattovaara, received a Master of Science in Landscape Architecture from UW-Madison and is a premiere urban geography scholar in Finland.
The communications intern will assist in the internal and external communications of Urbaria.
The specific tasks may include:
-Updating the institute’s website
-Maintaining the institute’s social media accounts
-Actively taking part in the day-to-day administration of the institute
-Opportunity to take responsibility for larger-scale communication projects such as video productions or interviews
-Other tasks as assigned
There will likely also be a UW-Madison student working as an Urban Studies Research Assistant, and the two interns will be encouraged to collaborate and discover synergies between their two roles.
Deadline – February 23, 2026.
