Description
About the Public Tech Media Lab:
The Public Tech Media Lab operates at the intersection of journalism and public interest technologies. Our objective is to support newsrooms in the development and implementation of open-source tools for digital investigations, and to design artificial intelligence systems oriented toward the public good. We aim to reinforce journalists’ professional autonomy, institutional accountability, and commitment to transparency. The Lab serves as a collaborative sandbox for journalists, technologists, and academics from different disciplines, where the ethical implications of emerging technologies can be collectively explored, solved, and anticipated.
Responsibilities:
• Support ongoing research projects on journalism, artificial intelligence, and public interest technologies.
• Assist with literature reviews, data collection, and qualitative or quantitative analysis.
• Contribute to the documentation of research methods and findings.
• Help prepare research outputs, including reports, presentations, and academic or public-facing materials.
• Participate in Lab meetings and collaborative research discussions.
Application Materials:
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Letter of interest describing research interests, relevant methodological skills, and motivation to work at the intersection of journalism and technology.
Send materials to Tomás Dodds at doddsrojas@wisc.edu with the title of the internship you are applying for.
