Mian “Gloria” Wei (She/They) is a PhD student in the SJMC at the UW–Madison. She holds a Research MA from UW-Madison and a Bachelor of Social Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research explores how power is reproduced and resisted through digital media, with a focus on the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and popular culture. She has been operating a feminist newsletter, DearSisters (AKA Letters from Two Unknown Women), since 2022. Before graduate school, she interned at Ogilvy China and ByteDance’s Organizational Culture Department. In her free time, Gloria enjoys swimming, traveling, practicing yoga, reading queer comics, hanging out with friends from her co-op, and walking on the frozen Lake Mendota.
